My name is Kim Powell. I am married and a busy mother of three kids, one in elementary school, one in college and one in graduate school! We live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the "City Different" in the "Land of Enchantment".
My time is spent raising my kids and participating in whatever they're doing at the time; swim team, soccer, boy scouts, girl scouts, band performances, theatre productions, volunteering at school etc. A very busy life as many of you know, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it!
There is never a dull moment around here & now I've added a business to the mix! My background is bookkeeping. I have been a bookkeeper since high school (I'm NOT going to tell you how many years that is!). Having always loved crunching numbers, I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I left my last bookkeeping job to concentrate on my health and deal with medical issues. Once these issues were resolved, I felt that it was time for a life change and a new career path. (Mid-life Crisis???) Thus, Gift Creations of Santa Fe was born!
For years I have been making and giving gift baskets to friends and family for holidays, birthdays or whatever. I've always loved making them and the recipients always loved receiving them. Everyone was always impressed with their gift baskets and enjoyed them so much that it progressed into me doing it full time as a business. Kind of a dominoe effect I guess, but I'm loving every minute of it.
Now, some of those dear people who have received my baskets as gifts in the past are some of my best customers! A new twist to the friend/family relationship!
I never considered myself a "salesperson" in my wildest dreams, I'm not the "out there" type of person. I made the decision to do this without even thinking it through or actually even making a decision! I started buying stuff and making baskets; it just evolved and here I am "out there" meeting people and making friends across the country, feeling that I finally found what I was meant to do! My hobby has turned into a full scale venture!
We are still, and will remain, a family run business with the whole family pitching in when needed. From my teenage daughter helping to make the baskets to my young son who is better than any public relations person you could hire (and can carry his weight in shipping boxes!), to my oldest son and my husband who still cannot believe that I took this leap! We are here for you and offer you our services in giving gifts that will never be forgotten!
We still get excited over each order and pour our tender loving care into each one. You have my promise that I will do everything humanly possible to make your gift basket everything that you dream it can be! Nothing leaves my shop unless it is something that I would love to receive! They say that you can't please everybody, but I sure am trying! And, I am very proud of the fact that I have never had an unsatified customer!
